          René Lalique is considered one of the driving forces of Art Deco, and created many a masterpiece at his factory in Wingen-sue-Moder, France. During the 1920s and 1930s, he designed several pieces that satiated the movement’s appetite for classical, nature-inspired imagery, employing clear and frosted basket-weave patterns, as the one on this bowl.
